DESCRIPTION:
The engagement called the Battle of Coral and Balmoral was one of the longest and most intense periods of fighting encountered by Australians during their commitment to the war in Viet Nam.
We will take you exploring in the old operational area. You will see where the Australians set up their Fire Support Bases of Coral and Balmoral and you will get a rare insight into the Vietnamese side of the battles as well.
You will spend a day out in the countryside getting a close look at Vietnamese life and culture as getting to Australia's military connections a little better.
LED BY LUKE JOHNSTON:
This tour is led by Luke Johnston. Luke is the son of an Australian National Service Vietnam Veteran. He is a researcher, historian, and fluent Vietnam language speaker. For the past decade, Luke has researched Australian military activities in Vietnam and retraced his father's year on operations in Viet Nam.
Luke will take you to the very places is father and his comrades in arms fought and gave their all in May 1968 and reveal a personal side of the battles.
